However, it does require the physical fitness necessary to climb a mountain.

🕘 Itinerary

  • Pickup at the accommodation
  • Transfer to the base of Cerro Toco (approx. 1-hour drive)
  • Distribution of walking sticks and equipment, and a safety briefing
  • Walk at a pace suited to the group
  • Rest stops, hydration breaks, and snack breaks
  • Once we reach the summit, it’s time for photos, taking in the view, and resting
  • Get off and return to the vehicle
  • Return to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.

Difficulty level: Moderate – high mountains. Good physical condition is required. No prior technical experience is necessary.
Maximum elevation: 5,604 meters above sea level. It is recommended that you acclimatize for at least 2 days before the climb.
Clothing and accessory recommendations:

  • Hiking gear: windbreaker, fleece, hat, gloves
  • Hiking shoes or boots with good traction
  • Small backpack (15–20 L)
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, headscarf.
  • Personal water supply (at least 1 L)

Additional recommendations:

  • Do not drink alcohol the night before
  • Activity subject to weather conditions (wind, snow)
